This feature enables testers to manually assess mobile app accessibility or website accessibility on real Android devices, ensuring WCAG compliance for differently-abled users. Similar to Google TalkBack, it provides element-by-element UI navigation with spoken descriptions, helping testers identify accessibility gaps and validate how screen reader users experience content. By leveraging real device testing, this feature delivers a realistic evaluation of accessibility issues, empowering teams to enhance inclusivity and usability in their digital experiences.

Prerequisites

User must be a registered Pcloudy user with an active subscription plan

Note

This feature is supported only devices with Android version 14 and above

Steps to Enable or Disable Screen Reader on Android Devices

  1. Login to the Pcloudy platform

  2. Select any available android device of version 14 and above on the Pcloudy platform

  3. Once the device is connected, click on Screen Reader under the All Actions tab

  4. Use the Toggle Switch to Enable/Disable the Screen Reader.

  5. Use the Keyboard shortcuts mentioned below to hear the descriptions on the screen.

Note

  • Make sure your system's audio is enabled to hear the screen descriptions.

  • After enabling Screen Reader, click on the device screen to set focus

Navigating on the Device When Using Screen Reader

You will need to use the following keyboard shortcuts to hear the Talkback or Voiceover.

Tab

Moves focus to the next focusable element. Helps navigate through interactive elements sequentially.

Shift + Tab

Moves focus to the previous focusable element. Allows backward navigation through elements.

Right Arrow

Moves to the next item within the same container or group.

Left Arrow

Moves to the previous item within the same container or group.

Up Arrow

Moves to the item above (e.g., previous line or row).

Down Arrow

Moves to the item below (e.g., next line or row).
